Looking After Yourself
- Think positive. In most cases HCV is thought to be a very slow progressing disease. Only a very small proportion of people will go on to have serious liver problems. A number of people who have HCV find counselling or attending support groups helpful.
- Eat a well balanced diet. There is no need to avoid certain foods or to take any extra supplements.
- Try to maintain a healthy weight. Discuss this with your doctor.
- Do not take any iron tablets unless requested to do so by your doctor.
- Always tell your doctor if you are taking or considering taking any alternative or homeopathic medication.
- Avoid alcohol.
- Attend your doctor appointments.
- Ask your doctor about getting vaccinated for Hepatitis A and B.
