Introduction to Learning and Development
Learning and Development supports the Hospital mission of delivering excellent care to patients by providing and supporting learning, throughout the organisation. We ensure that our service is aligned to the needs of our staff and to their continuous development of services to patients and to the Hospital. We help identify the current and future development needs of staff, teams and managers in line with the Healthcare Group strategy and then we provide:
- relevant education support and guidance
- in-house training and learning solutions
- support for teams, individuals and managers
- external training if required
Learning and Development also supports and chairs the Intercultural Working Group (IWG) and develops diversity training solutions.
Our full calendar of training events is available on the Intranet site and also includes courses provided by the SVUH Nurse Education Centre and other departments i.e. Health and Safety, Resuscitation etc. Training is also available to the other Hospitals in the Healthcare Group.
We are also behind the organisational development initiative “Partnership Management and Partnership Communication” which is supported by the Health Service National
Partnership Forum (HSNPF) and the SVUH Partnership Committee. This project
drives Team Based Performance Management (TBPM), Townhalls and Team briefings,
Personal Development Planning (PDP), Management Development and
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) all of which support the hospital quality mission and JCI accreditation.
Hours of Service: We are available Monday to Thursday from 8.00am-5.30pm and 8.00am-5.00pm on Fridays.
Location: We are currently located on the 2nd floor of the convent building.
