Introduction to Learning and Development

Learning and Development supports the organisational performance of the Hospital by developing staff to meet ongoing and future service needs. We support the Hospital’s Mission of striving for excellence in clinical care, education and research by utilising and developing the talents and abilities of all employees. We ensure that our service is aligned to the needs of our staff and we support staff and managers in aspects of development planning and continuous professional development.

Our learning philosophy is to provide a range of relevant learning opportunities that support and develop staff at different stages of their career. In Learning and Development we collaborate with a range of colleagues across the Hospital to identify learning and development needs and to design and facilitate solutions to these. We design and deliver a range of programmes in the areas of leadership and management development, personal effectiveness skills and IT training.

The division also works with other professionals across the hospital in the provision of various training interventions including mandatory training. We work to accommodate the different needs of staff and to provide a pathway to access various learning options in a cost effective way.
