Medical Electives

The time scale for Medical Electives is generally between June and August each year.The list of Medical and Surgical Specialties in St.Vincent’s University Hospital are as follows:

Medical :

Cardiology / Dermatology / Endocrinology / Gastroenterology / General Internal Medicine / Geriatric Medicine / Haematology / Hepatology / Nephrology / Neurology / Neurophysiology / Oncology / Palliative Medicine / Respiratory /Rheumatology

Surgical :

Cardiothoracic Surgery / ENT / Colorectal / Hepatobillary / Gynaecology / Opthalmology / Orthopaedics / Plastic Surgery / Urology / Vascular Surgery

Other specialties include:

Anaesthetics / Emergency Medicine / Radiology / Psychiatry / Pathology

If you wish to undertake a Medical Elective placement, you should submit the following:

1) Copy of Curriculum Vitae

2) Letter of Application outlining only one specialty of interest

3) Reference from Deane of College

4) Date you wish to undertake elective from / to
