Referrals

Patients are seen at the request of their General Practitioner or referring Consultant. For routine appointments a referring letter should be posted or faxed to the Liver Unit stating which Consultant the patient is being referred to.

Most patients will be seen within four to six weeks of referral but if an earlier appointment is required this should be stated in the referral letter.

Both medical and surgical registrars are available for advice to G.P.'s and medical staff 24 hours a day and may be contacted through the hospital switchboard to discuss any urgent problems (01-2694533).
