The Dermatology Research Group consists of Dr Brian Kirby, Principal Investigator and Dr Anne-Marie Tobin, Clinical Research Fellow who is studying for a PhD in Translational Medicine in UCD. Dr. Cheryl Sweeney joined the research group as postdoctoral scientist. Cheryl has just completed a PhD in Th17 cells in Multiple Sclerosis and is currently looking at the effect on Vitamin D on Langerhans cells in psoriasis.
The group’s research focus is the impact of obesity in patients with psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. In particular they wish to identify modifiable risk factors for obesity and therapeutic interventions. The work is being conducted in collaboration with the Obesity Research Group.
