Areas of Involvement

The Health and Safety Department is involved in coordinating the following area

1. Consultation

The purpose of the committee is to advise hospital management on matters pertaining to health, safety and welfare at work. As part of the hospital's consultation mechanism, ten safety satellite groups are represented on the Health & Safety Committee through a Co-ordinator appointed by each group. The hospital Safety Representative is a member of the committee. The committee is supported by a group of core resource staff who facilitate the needs of the committee.

2. Safety Statement

The St. Vincent's University Hospital Safety Statement has been prepared in recognition of management's health and safety statutory duties and responsibilities, such as the Safety, Health & Welfare at Work Act, 2005 Statutory Instrument No. 44 of Safety, Health & Welfare (General Application) Regulations, 1993 and amendment regulations 2001 and 2003.

The Safety Statement is management's policy, in writing, for safeguarding and maintaining health and safety standards in St. Vincent's University Hospital and it specifies the manner, organisation and resources provided for that purpose.
