Capital Works

Minor Capital Works Projects include upgrades, modifications and new works to the buildings and utilities for:

  • Installation of new or replacement equipment.
  • Compliance with new reguations and codes.
  • Elimination of Health & Safety risks and hazards.
  • New service plans and expansions / upgrades to existing services.

Projects involve:

  • Surveys, investigations, project scoping and budgets;
  • Design service, including space planning, floor plans, furniture/equipment layouts, medical gases, heating, ventillation, air conditioning, building management systems, water services, sanitation & drainage, power distribution, lifgting, fire alarm, communications networks, security systems, etc;
  • Preparation of documentation including tender drawings, specifications, construction schedules and technical reports; Project and construction management including Health & safety.
  • Computer Aided Design, including 2-D drawing, 3-D modelling, renderred images etc;
  • Computer Aided Engineering, including mathematical modelling, graphical reports etc;

Library Upgrade

Upgrade to library in Educational and Research Building to utilise study area space more efficiently, improve ergonomics and increase internet access including new lighting, furniture, carpets, painting and communications networks.

Embalming Suite

New embalming suite in Pathology Department to improve service in line with current recommended guidelines.

Ward Upgrade

Complete upgrade of St. Brigids ward with additional Intensive Care Units to meet requirements of National Liver Transplant Programme.

Cooking Island

New cooking island in main kitchen to meet Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) including new ovens, canopy and extract system, fire supression system and associated utility supplies.

Heating System Upgrade

Upgrade of heating system in main Ward Block to improve energy efficiency and patient comfort including new circulating pumps, control valves, pipework and controls.
