Irish Life Dublin Marathon 2025 – Road closures and access to St. Vincent’s University Hospital

The Irish Life Dublin Marathon 2025 will take place on Bank Holiday Sunday, 26th October, starting at 8:40am from Leeson Street Lower and finishing on Mount Street Upper by approximately 5:00pm.
A number of rolling road closures and diversions will be in place across the city from early morning to facilitate the event.
Access to St. Vincent’s University Hospital
- The Nutley Lane entrance will be closed to all vehicular and pedestrian traffic from approximately 8:00am to 5:00pm.
- The Merrion Road Entrance (by BreastCheck) will be the only access point to the hospital on the day and can only be reached from the Rock Road direction.
All patients (including those attending the Emergency Department), visitors and staff are advised to plan their journey in advance, allow extra travel time and check traffic and public transport updates before travelling. Staff are also reminded to carry their hospital ID when coming to or leaving the campus.
The N11 will remain open in both directions, as marathon participants will pass under the UCD flyover.
Emergency access
Emergency services and ambulance access to St. Vincent’s University Hospital will be maintained throughout the event.
Public transport
- LUAS: Both lines will operate a Sunday Service from 7:00am to 11:30pm, with trams every 10 minutes.
- Irish Rail: Passengers are advised that major rail works will affect DART and Northern Commuter services. Full details are available on irishrail.ie.
- DublinBikes: Five stations will be closed from 2pm Friday 24th to 10am Monday 27th October, including Merrion Square East, West and South, Mount Street Lower, and Wilton Terrace. Access to other stations near the race route may also be restricted.
