M26E050 - Fellowship in Critical Care Retrieval Medicine

Overview

Commencing July 2026, for 12 months

St Vincent’s University Hospital and the National Ambulance Service Critical Care and Retrieval Services (NAS CCRS) are delighted to jointly facilitate a Fellowship in Critical Care Retrieval Medicine (FCCRM) commencing in July 2026.

This fellowship is suitable for graduates of the specialist training programmes of the Irish Committee for Emergency Medicine Training (ICEMT), the College of Anaesthesiologists of Ireland (COAI) and the Joint Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine of Ireland (JFICMI).

The NAS CCRS, with the support of partner hospitals has facilitated the expansion of the Mobile Intensive Care Ambulance Service (MICAS) from a Dublin-based service to include extended hours and southern and western hubs. The NAS CCRS is undergoing a period of expansion, with additional consultant, nursing and support roles commenced in 2026. Approximately 350 retrievals were completed in 2025. Critical care retrieval is a key priority in enabling optimal patient outcomes, access to care and connectivity between hospitals.

The retrieval fellow will be offered a bespoke fellowship programme based on their previous experience and identified learning goals. The retrieval fellow will be appointed to SVUH for a 12-month period and released to NASCCRS Mobile Intensive Care Ambulance Service (MICAS) at the Cherry Orchard base for clinical retrieval shifts, accounting for up to 75% of the post.
