Gastroenterology

The Gastroenterology Department is a university affiliated unit providing high quality inpatient and outpatient care for the full spectrum of gastrointestinal diseases.

Our clinics include dedicated clinics for specific gastrointestinal diseases such as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and hepatobiliary disease.  Support care is also provided by dedicated specialist nurses.

We provide a range of endoscopy services including;

• Gastroscopy /OGD
• Bronchoscopy
• Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS)
• Endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS)
• ERCP
• PEG insertion
• Bowel Screen Programme (national colonoscopy screening programme)

Referral information

We accept consultant and GP referrals to our outpatient clinics. Outpatient appointments are only granted on receipt of a referral letter. These are reviewed by the consultant gastroenterologists who then decide on the urgency of the appointment.
