Irish Prostate Cancer Outcomes Research (IPCOR) Project launches across St. Vincent’s Healthcare Group, led from St. Vincent’s University Hospital
25th November 2025

St. Vincent’s University Hospital (SVUH) is proud to announce the launch of the Irish Prostate Cancer Outcomes Research (IPCOR) project across the St. Vincent’s Healthcare Group. Beginning at SVUH, IPCOR will now operate throughout St. Vincent’s Private Hospital and St. Michael’s Hospital as part of a coordinated, Group-wide commitment to advancing prostate cancer care.
Led by Associate Professor David Galvin, Consultant Urologist at SVUH and Principal Investigator, IPCOR is establishing a national prostate cancer registry, capturing high-quality, real-world information from men newly diagnosed with prostate cancer across Ireland.
Each year, more than 4,000 men in Ireland are diagnosed with prostate cancer and one in six will experience this disease in their lifetime. IPCOR will collect clinical data, patient-reported outcome measures and biorepository samples to better understand patient needs, improve standards of care, and guide future health service planning.
This national project is proudly supported by Movember, the global charity transforming the landscape of men’s health.
“IPCOR was established to support Irish men on their prostate cancer journey to drive improvements in the standards of prostate cancer care across the country and to listen to the voices of spouses, partners and families,” said Associate Professor David Galvin, Consultant Urologist & Principal Investigator.
To mark the Group-wide launch, a dedicated IPCOR awareness stand is in place today at CentrePoint, where staff are on hand to share information, answer questions and highlight the resources available for men and families navigating prostate cancer. As always at SVUH, this engagement is rooted in advocacy, compassion and ensuring patients feel informed and supported at every step.
“We are proud to lead this launch from SVUH. IPCOR strengthens our mission to deliver exceptional, patient-centred care by ensuring the experiences and outcomes of men with prostate cancer are captured, understood and used to shape even better services across the Group,” said Pauline McGrath CEO, SVUH.
IPCOR is now fully operational across the St. Vincent’s Healthcare Group, recruiting patients at St. Vincent’s University Hospital, St. Vincent’s Private Hospital and St. Michael’s Hospital.
The dedication of the urology team and the staff of St. Mark’s Ward has been instrumental in bringing this important work to life.
