SVUH Hosts its Nursing Quality Improvement Projects 2023 Presentation Day

11th October 2023

St. Vincent’s University Hospital (SVUH) showcased the innovative strides of its nursing staff at the Nursing Quality Improvement Projects 2023 Presentation Day, held at the ERC Lecture Hall within the hospital premises. The event, spearheaded by the esteemed Nurse Practice Development team, welcomed nursing professionals from various specialties to share their quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing patient care and services.

The event was inaugurated by Ann Flynn, SVUH’s Director of Nursing, whose inspiring words set the tone for a day filled with knowledge sharing and collaboration. Angela Smyth, Director of Quality and Patient Safety, delivered a compelling keynote address, emphasising the pivotal role of quality improvement projects in advancing healthcare standards.

Eighteen dedicated nurses took the stage to present their diverse range of quality improvement projects. The presentations covered an array of topics, including a comprehensive root cause analysis of medication errors by Leah Palado Vinzons, the innovative “Sip Til Send” initiative by Josna Albert, and the impactful Body Composition Rounding project led by Gladys Sadang and Angelo Delos Reyes. Additionally, Aoife Walsh introduced the digital iNews platform, marking a significant step towards modernising communication within the healthcare setting.

The primary objective of the day was to promote and celebrate the remarkable quality improvement initiatives undertaken by SVUH’s nursing staff. By fostering an environment of continuous learning and innovation, the hospital aims to elevate patient care and services to unprecedented levels. The event not only served as a platform for knowledge exchange but also as a testament to the dedication and expertise of SVUH’s nursing professionals.

“We are incredibly proud of our nurses and their unwavering commitment to improving patient care,” said Ann Flynn, Director of Nursing at SVUH. “The Nursing Quality Improvement Projects 2023 Presentation Day showcased the passion and innovation that drive our nursing staff. Their initiatives are not only transforming healthcare within our hospital but also inspiring positive change in the broader medical community.”

The event received overwhelming support from hospital staff, reflecting the collaborative spirit and collective effort toward achieving excellence in patient care.
