Blood Tests: GP Patients

The Phlebotomy Service is strictly by appointment only.

- Who: The Phlebotomy Service is available to patients who are 16 years of age or older.
- Where: The phlebotomy clinic is located on the 1st Floor ADCC (opposite St Mark’s Ward)
- When: The clinic is open for GP patients from 8:00 to 15:00 (Mon, Tue, Thu and Fri, and 12:00 – 15:00 (Wed).
Only General Practitioners who are registered and approved to access laboratory services at St Vincent’s Hospital are permitted to refer patients to the SwiftQueue GP clinic at the hospital.
- The hospital is unable to tend to patients who present to our phlebotomy or specimen reception team, unless they attend from a pre-registered GP.
- If the patient’s GP is registered with a different hospital other than St Vincent’s Hospital, then the patient must attend the SwiftQueue services at that hospital.
Please ensure you bring your printed SVUH GP request form with you. Blood test requests on letters / email / electronic formats will not be accepted.
Fasting
Your GP/clinician will inform you if you are required to fast before your blood test. For tests that require fasting, fasting for more than 8 hours prior to having your blood tests is recommended. Fasting patients should book their appointments as early as possible in the day.
On Arrival to the hospital, please check in at the kiosk located inside the main entrance, then proceed to the waiting area on the first floor allied health therapy.
