Admission Policies/Procedures

There are two main sources of admission to St. Vincent's University Hospital - emergency admissions through the Accident and Emergency Department and pre-arranged admissions.

In order that St. Vincent's University Hospital may fulfil its primary role of the care and treatment of patients, it has an agreed admissions protocol to ensure that equity of access and quality of care is maintained.

The aim of the admission policy is to introduce/maintain order into the process of admission and discharge of patients. More importantly, it is aimed at improving the quality of service patients are offered.
