Welcome to the Emergency Department at St. Vincent’s University Hospital. We operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year, caring for patients aged 16 years and older.

Priority is given to patients with life-threatening injuries or illnesses. Children under 16 should attend their nearest paediatric emergency department.

The Emergency Department is located by the Nutley Lane entrance at St. Vincent’s University Hospital. Find out how to get here if you’re travelling by private or public transport. Follow our step by step guide and on what to expect as a patient or visitor.

Please bring a list of your current medication with you when you come to the Emergency Department.

If you are a person with Parkinson’s and would like to continue taking your Parkinson’s medication while in the Emergency Department, please tell our triage nurses. Please also bring your Parkinson’s medication with you in its original or pharmacy packaging.
